It was a beautiful week in our house. Perfect? No It was a beautiful week in our house. Perfect? No. But we had many opportunities to be together and practice intentionality in our family. Here are a few ways we were intentional in our relationships.

🍗 We had one of the first nice days of Spring so we went to our favorite patio for dinner.

🍷 My husband and I had not been on a date in too long so we took off to our favorite winery for some alone time.

🍬 The girls were dying to make the viral “candy salad” so they all pitched in to make their own version.

🔥 My husband opened the bonfire pit for the season and we spent an hour + singing and laughing by the fire with our girls and their best friends.

🏊🏻 My youngest couldn’t pass up an opportunity to hop in the freezing pool to end our opening night. Before, the mess would have given me anxiety, but trying to let go gave her and her friends a good laugh and a memory together.

17 Not-So-Lame Things to do with Your Teenage Daughter this Summer

Are you looking for things to do with your teenage daughter this summer that she will actually love to do? Try these teenage tested and approved ideas with your daughter!

Fun things to do with daughter

As much as I would love to take credit for this list, I will say, I had help from my daughters and their friends. This list was approved by the car full of girls on their way to volleyball practice. I couldn’t in good faith share this list with you without getting actual teenage daughter approval!

Whether you’re planning low-cost outings or splurging on higher-cost adventures, these 17 ideas are sure to interest both you and your daughter this summer.

Low Cost-Things to do with Your Teenage Daughter:

  1. Load into the car for a late night snack run. However, this is not just any snack run. Anything out of the normal, every day routine can become and a fun thing to do with your daughter. For example, going for Mike and Ike’s or the occasional Waffle House run are the top choices in my house.
  2. Go on a coffee date. Going for coffee with your daughter is an excellent time for a treat and to catch up on life with her.
  3. Plan a movie night sleepover. Put on your comfiest PJs, gather the snacks, pile on the couch with a mound of blankets, and choose the best cheesy 90’s Rom-com for a girls-only movie night. Bonus points if you all fall asleep on the couch and actually make it a full night’s sleepover.
  4. Make fun smoothie bowls. With a few ingredients from the grocery store, you and your daughter can create delicious smoothie bowls that will quench your creative sweet tooth.
  5. Take a drive with the windows down and music up. Create a fun music playlist with your daughter being sure to add some of the songs you loved when you were her age. Then, take off for a ride and sing your hearts out!
  6. Go for a walk. This might sound too simple, but if your daughter will go, it can be great bonding time. My daughters and I talk the most when we take an evening walk around the neighborhood.
  7. Play a sport together. You don’t have to be good at the sport, but you can try! Head out to your local park and play with your daughter. Even if it just means chasing her balls for her, you’re still taking an active interest in what she loves.
  8. Plan a photo shoot. Pre-teen and teenage girls love to take photos or videos of themselves. Search out cool local spots, get dressed in your favorite outfits, and head out for the day to take some photos. The best spots in my town are the downtown murals, the distillery district, and the Spring blooms at the local cemetery.

Medium Cost-Things to do with Your Teenage Daughter:

  1. Head out for a patio dinner date. Make a night out of it! Get dressed up (if that’s your thing), order appetizers, meals, and virgin daiquiris for the perfect girls night out!
  2. Load up your pup and go on a doggie date. If your girls love your pup like mine do ours, then a puppy date is the excellent fun thing to do with your daughter. Go for play time at a dog park then off to a doggy-friendly restaurant for lunch or dinner.
  3. Play Putt-putt or Top Golf. Even if neither of you are any good at swinging a club, you can still have fun and laugh together as you both attempt to play.
  4. Visit the dirve-in movie theater. Chances are, you daughter has. never experienced anything like watching a movie from a car or lawn chair. Stock up on snacks and blankets and see what is playing!

Higher Cost-Things to do with Your Teenage Daughter:

  1. Go to a water park or amusement park. You remember spending your days at an amusement park as a teenager don’t you? Even if you don’t do rollercoasters, you can still be a part of the adventure with your daughter and her friends.
  2. Plan a summer wardrobe shopping day. Perhaps you don’t need to go shopping for a complete wardrobe, however, a day of refreshing their wardrobe can be a fun day. However, I have learned that if expectations are set before you head out, it makes for a more enjoyable day. For example, make sure everyone knows the budget and expectations for what is being bought. Just be sure to let your daughter express her style!
  3. Take a road trip. Even if just for a day, go on a road trip to some attractions within driving distance of your home. We often miss the amazing opportunities that are right under our noses!
  4. Visit the zoo. Or any attraction that they loved as a kid. It is fun to see them experience it in a new way and many times, it opens the door for a day of reminiscing about their childhood.
  5. Go on a local adventure. Sort of like a stay-cation! Research and discover fun attractions in your town that you have overlooked because of lack of time or because you were just unaware something so cool existed so close!

Finding things to do with your teenage daughter doesn’t have to be hard. A lot of times, they are so tired from life, they can appreciate a fun night at home!

If just takes you, momma, making an effort to understand her interests and then spending quality time with her. A little can go a long way!

Still looking for a fun thing to do with your teenage daughter? Check out these ideas as well!
